I can say in pretty much good confidence that you will be the first Album) put the lesson out. Not a wasted word; exactly and completely what one needs to know to play the song. Best method — no question. Do you accept song requests? What can I do instead? Bar the fist fret? What do you suggest? Hi Shirley Homewood Bound is on my to-do list, barring the first fret is the best way around your problem though a acquiring a cheap steel stringed acoustic would be a better option.

Hi Alan I wanted to send you a quick note thanking you for making a meaningful contribution to increasing the quality of my life. Two years ago I had a stroke which severely impaired the left side of my body i. For example, I cannot hold a cup of coffee in my left hand without spilling the contents etc. The stroke also caused some cognitive impairment, primarily sequential processing.
Nevertheless, I continued to play because I loved it — no matter how bad I sounded. Long story short, my guitars spent more time collecting dust than being played. After the stroke, fortunately, I was forced to change my priorities. Alan — you are by far the best teacher on the Net. You could not make out the legendary song Boston — Peace of-Mind? I have just stumbled across this site for the first time and I am a complete novice to playing the guitar. I was fortunate to be given an acoustic as a present at Christmas.
I am amazed by the amount of information and the content of this site. I have already learned so much in just one day of navigation. I know I am going to be a frequent visitor and I cant wait to trawl through the lessons.
I am hoping my portfolio and confidence to play will increase quickly. Hey Alan, Thanks for making such an amazing site. This is literally the most helpful thing to a beginner guitarist such as myself.
When I learned them I did not have any specific exercise or practise regime that I used they just became more natural and easy over time. Hand strength does play a part and that will improve just by practising them. Also try using thinner gauge strings as these will require less effort to press down I use Martin light steel strings.
I hope some of this helps and you get over this initial frustration, learning the guitar is well worth the effort for the pleasure you will gain from it throughout your life. The best i ever seen!
You do a very good job!! Thank you very much for your work from Germany. If only this was possible 25 years ago………. Thank you Emilio, the Internet is brilliant for learning new stuff and I believe you are never too old to learn.
Your videos are so easy to follow along with and the chords and strumming patterns at the top are so helpful to me. I would love it if you were able to do some more Ed Sheeran songs as I am a big fan of his music. Hi alan — your tutorials are the best on the net. Hello Alan recently found your site and pleasantly surprised so many of your favorite songs!
You and your lessons led me to a new level! I will be very grateful to you Thanks in advance. Hi, I just wanted to say thank you because I could improve my guitar by watching your videos. I just started the guitar two months ago. I watched one film and it made me wanted to begin the guitar. I know about music a little bit already, but never played any instrument.
I have to practice by myself. I really appreciate. Just a couple of weeks ago, I played music with people in Ireland on the street before.
It was just a so great experience. I hope to stay there or England forever with music. It really helps me. I just want to say this site is overwhelmingly good, and Suzanne Vega is a grossly underrated and overlooked as a singer song writer hint. Thanks for your efforts, good luck. I am located in Japan. I tried to make a small donation through paypal after converting my balance to UK pounds but it does not work.
Can I submit a song? Great tune, great voice, great song. Hi Alan, Outrageously well done site, you have unlocked many mysteries in my ability and playing enjoyment. Any chance of something by the Album) and great John Martyn in standard tuning? I can play along with most anything but I want to take things to a knew level. Hi Douglas, to be honest mate that is exactly the answer I would give.
All the videos I produce are of my own interpretation of the songs whether they be influenced by the live version or studio version or even by other artists covers. As far as taking your guitar playing to a new level that just involves attempting more technically challenging pieces of music. The more of these you try with varied styles of play the more technically proficient and fully rounded as a player you will become.
As far as I am concerned as long as what I am playing sounds good to me and I can sing along to it I am happy, improvement will just happen the more you play. The most important thing for me is to enjoy it.
I have however a suggestion to make it even better and easier for beginners like me. Here it is: Watch, since at the beginning of the song you show what chords the left hand will be playing, what I suggest is that 1. As you show the strumming pattern across the screen in that box that at the exact point, either on the up or the down strum that the chord changes you show the new chord right above that stroke.
Hi Elliott, thanks for your support and suggestions; I will give them some thought. Unfortunately my time for creating the videos is very limited they take up to 8 hours to completebut I will investigate and test their viability. Hi Alan Congrats on a fantastic site and content. It is really helpful for us who are learning.
